Over the past year, we have been developing resources for professionals and parents and carers to use to help children and young people stay safer online while learning at home. Here's a summary of what's available for you to use.
For parents to use at home
Home activity sheets
Our home activity sheets include 15-minute activities parents and carers can use with their child to support their online safety at home.
Nine weeks of activities are available for children and young people aged 4 and above. These are based on our existing educational resources.
Family activity sheets
Our family activity sheets have a selection of short conversation starters, practical tips and fun tasks to do as a family. They cover topics such as:
- cyber security
- social media
- online gaming
- live streaming
For online lesson delivery
We've created toolkits with short online safety activities for online learning. The editable primary and secondary presentations support young people to:
- understand healthy and unhealthy behaviours within online and offline friendships and relationships
- understand the importance of permission and consent, in particular in relation to sharing images and videos
- identify signs of manipulative, pressurising or threatening behaviour and respond safely to it
- understand the importance of seeking help from a trusted adult when they need it
The activities included are based on our original online safety toolkits for face-to-face learning.
Additional resources
Reporting to CEOP video
Our short video for secondary-aged young people explores the CEOP Safety Centre and its reporting form.
The video can be shared with young people when delivering face-to-face sessions in your education setting or through an online learning platform. This video is not for use on social media.
Editable newsletter
Our editable online newsletters provide parents and carers with a range of general information and advice on how they can support their child's online safety at home.
The template newsletter can be edited to include specific information and guidance for parents and carers on:
- sharing personal information, images and videos
- online gaming
- live streaming
- social media
- how to help keep children and young people safer online
